Refugee Support Role 

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has led many Ukrainians to flee. The government's scheme has allowed some of the Ukrainians to come and stay with host families in the UK. There are currently 4 Ukrainian families staying with Emmanuel hosts, and another person on the way. And South Cambs as a whole has one of the highest levels of hosting Ukrainians in the country.

So we are delighted to have fluent Russian speaker Laura Thomas in the church family. She has lived in Russia, understands some Ukrainian, and has a long standing concern for the needy including refugees. She has been appointed to a Refugee Support Role for Emmanuel Church Northstowe, and will be helping with translation, helping Ukrainian guests with paperwork and appointments, and English language. She is translating for our Sunday services among other things.
