Prayer Meetings
At Emmanuel we want to enjoy the privilege Jesus has won for us: to talk to the Creator of the universe as our loving Father. In many places the bible calls us to be devoted to this communication with God, or prayer:
“They all joined together constantly in prayer...”
Acts 1:14
“They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42
“... and we will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:4
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
Colossians 4:2
So prayer is part of our calling as Christians, expressing who we are as adopted children of God. It is something we do individually and want to encourage each other to do more. It’s something we do whenever we gather as Christians, whether all together on a Sunday or in our smaller homegroups. But we also have a time when we especially focus on praying together as a whole church in our monthly Church Family Meeting, which is usually the first Thursday of the month at 7:45pm.
We also have a weekly Monday evening Zoom prayer time 8:30-9pm
