Makepeace McEvoy: To Northstowe, via death's door
"I was keen to get out of Sheffield, but my plan was to return to the Lake District. I had no idea that the Lord wanted me in Northstowe, which was the last place I would ever have chosen! But at the end of March 2016, I fell flat on my face in the middle of Manchester Piccadilly Station - the first sign that my balance was deteriorating - and two or three months later I was fighting for my life in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, with acute bowel ischaemia. And from then on, life was never the same again."
