Acts 17-28: The gospel spreading to the ends of the earth
The book of Acts starts with the risen Jesus commanding his disciples to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. Jesus also sends his Spirit to empower them in this. After the crossing to Europe in Acts 16, in Acts 17-28 we follow Paul on his dramatic missionary journeys through Greece and the coast of Asia Minor, back to Jerusalem, and then on to Rome itself. Through these chapters, we see the gospel (=good news about Jesus) being shared and received, opposition faced, and the gospel continuing it’s spread to the ends of the earth.
Whether you are investigating Christianity, a new Christian, or have been a Christian for many years, Acts 17-28 is for you. We’ll hear the gospel the apostle Paul preached to different cultural settings. We’ll learn about the priorities of the early Christians. We’ll get challenged about our commitment to making and growing disciples of Jesus. And through it all we’ll be encouraged as we see Jesus at work then and now.
